Prioritize sleep

A lot of research has been done on sleep and how it impacts our bodies and minds when we don’t get enough. A book written by the director of UC Berkeley’s Center for Human Sleep Science called Why We Sleep is an excellent resource and explains how we can harness sleep to improve learning, mood and energy levels, regulate hormones, prevent cancer, Alzheimer’s and diabetes, slow the effects of aging, lose weight, and increase longevity. It also details how sleep clears out damaged cells and toxins, strengthens the immune system and protects against degenerative brain disorders. The book is truly eye-opening and is a must-read for anyone who doesn’t tend to prioritize sleep (so, basically, everyone).
