Know your climate facts
It can be so frustrating hearing from someone about how global warming isn’t a thing because it’s really cold outside.😑 Here’s an example of why it might be colder than usual but it’s due to global warming. In the winter of 2018/2019, there was a polar vortex that hit North America. What is a polar vortex? It’s a swirling mass of Arctic air that usually hovers around the North Pole all year. That winter, it broke into two and travelled much further south that usual, making it absolutely frigid in the North-East part of North America. Climate scientists think that this is due to disturbances in the jet-stream and warmer arctic air, which are linked to climate change and global warming. Boom. Global warming = more extreme weather conditions, sometimes even colder temps.
