Properly dispose of hazardous household waste
A number of products used at home contain hazardous or toxic substances that can contaminate ground or surface waters, such as:⠀
– paint⠀
– household cleaners⠀
– medications⠀
– pesticides⠀
– batteries⠀
– motor oil⠀
Don’t dump waste on the ground. It can seep into the soil contaminating it and the ground water. Also, don’t dump waste down your sink or storm drain as these go directly into your local water source. It’s also not great to put them in the garbage as the run off from landfills could also contaminate local waterways. The best thing to do is to take a few minutes of research and find out how to properly dispose of these items in your area.⠀
