Know how to handle a seizure

At one point in your life, you may encounter someone having a seizure due to epilepsy, high fever, or a stroke. If this ever happens, this is what to do:

1) Don’t try to constrain them. People having seizures make wild and often violent movements. The best thing to do is to gently lay them down on the floor and move things around them out of the way. If there are pillows nearby, you could put a few around them to avoid injury.

2) Once they have finished, lay them on their side so that their tongue is not blocking their airway.

3) Check they are breathing properly.

4) When they regain consciousness, talk to them to see if they have ever had seizures before. If not, you should call 911. If so, they will know how to move forward from there.
