Ask your florist about sourcing practices

Many of us buy flowers for special occasions or even just to brighten up our home and when you do, it’s an opportunity to let the florist know that you’re concerned about ethical sourcing practices. You can ask if the flowers were treated with any chemicals (preservatives or colours). Where were they grown. Were the people who grew the flowers paid a living wage. They may not know the answers to these questions, and that’s fine. Be polite and respectful. Just ask them to pass along to their buyer that a customer had those questions so that they know that these things are important to their customers.
