Don’t believe all the thoughts in your head
Sometimes it’s hard to tell the difference between your thoughts and facts. If you think it to yourself, you think that it must be true. But actually we don’t have to believe all the thoughts in our heads. Sometimes we have what’s called an inner critic that makes us feel bad about ourselves. Maybe your inner critic is telling you that you aren’t good at something or that someone doesn’t like you. If this is happening, something useful you can do is to argue with your inner critic. Whatever negative thought you have, you can look for evidence that this thought isn’t true. You can remind yourself of times that you did do well at that thing or times that person was nice to you and then remind yourself of that evidence over and over. This will help you see that the inner critic or negative thoughts are often untrue and we don’t have to believe them.
