Darn your socks
Back in the day, people used to darn (or repair) their socks when they got holes in them. This has become a lost practice, but it’s so simple to do. It saves these socks from going to landfill and it saves you having to buy new ones. Saving waste and buying less stuff is one of the most significant things you can do as an individual to combat climate change and help the planet recover from environmental degradation.
How do you do it? If you google “how to darn a sock,” there are a number of videos that are 2-3 minutes that show you exactly how to repair a sock. Anyone can do it and all you need is a thread and needle.
Next time you want to binge watch Netflix, pick up a thread and needle and repair a few socks while you watch.
