Forests store and cycle huge amounts of carbon so deforestation is a big contributor to climate change. Deforestation also displaces and endangers wildlife. If you want to help protect forests and the animals who live in them, you can buy products made from sustainably-sourced wood. Two labels to look out for are the RSPO label and the FSC label. RSPO certification ensures that the product has been made with sustainable palm oil. Palm oil is a big reason for deforestation and is in a surprising number of food products. The FSC label ensures that the product you’re buying was made from responsibly managed forests.
